Trustees
Longview is an independent organisation with charitable status run by a Board of Trustees.
Michael Wadsworth is Chairman of the Trustees. He was the Director of the MRC National Survey for Health and Development (1946 Birth Cohort Study) from 1982 - 2006, University College London. He is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at UCL.
Ann Cummins is Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees and joined the Board from the ICCS Board of Trustees.
Roy Ackerman joined the Board of Trustees from the ICCS Board of Trustees.
Nick Buck is Director of the UK Longitudinal Studies Centre at the University of Essex – the home of the British Household Panel Survey.
Paul Boyle is Director of the Longitudinal Studies Centre – Scotland, St Andrews University – the home of the Scottish Longitudinal Survey.
Harvey Goldstein is Founder of the Multilevel Modelling Centre, now at the University of Bristol.
Heather Joshi is Director of the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, Institute of Education – the home of the 1958, 1970 and Millennium Birth Cohort Studies.
Carli Lessof is the Director of Longitudinal Studies Group, National Centre for Social Research.
John Bynner is Director of Longview and is Secretary to the Board of Trustees.
Norman Glass ncement
We recently announced the death on Saturday 13th June 2009 of Norman Glass, Chairman of the Longview Trustees and Chief Executive of the National Centre for Social Research. His funeral took place on 26th June 2009.
An obituary for Norman can be viewed here. Norman was central to the establishment and development of Longview and will be sorely missed by everyone who had the priviledge to know him.
The Memorial Event has been arranged for Wednesday 4 November 2009 at 3pm at St Martins in the Fields, Trafalgar Square. It will last for a maximum of one hour and there will be a reception after the service in the Crypt of St Martins.
The service is being organised by NatCen with the full support and involvement of Norman's family.
The family have indicated that donations in Norman's name should be sent to The Children's Society and Guy's Hospital Urology Fund.
Neville Butler
Neville Butler, founder sponsor of Longview and Director of the International Centre for Child Studies (ICCS), died in February 2007. Read Neville's obituary here
